Comet Dash

Comet Dash

Week 04

By Kyle (design & code) · Released

A space runner game flown with one button: hold anywhere to climb, release to dive. The gaps run between crystal spires, drifting asteroids, energy gates, and rival ships that fire first. One hundred proven stages ramp from a gentle first flight to an endgame built around retries. Two endless modes keep generating sky until you clip something.

How to play

  • Hold anywhere, or hold Space, to climb. Release to dive.
  • Thread the gaps. One bump ends the run.
  • Skim close to obstacles for close call bonuses.
  • Grab stardust to earn up to three stars.
  • Rival ships cross your lane. Slip aside before they fire.
  • In Free Flight, steer the ship straight to your pointer or finger.

Desktop: Hold the left mouse button, Space, or W to climb, and release to dive. In Free Flight the ship steers to your pointer, or use the arrow keys. R restarts and Escape pauses. · Mobile: Hold anywhere to climb and let go to dive. In Free Flight the ship follows your finger. The round coral button pauses.

Why we built this

We shipped a soft final stage once and heard about it. Now a simulated pilot has to survive every stage before it ships. It lost every stage one hundred run at first, so we rebuilt the game until it could win.

FAQ

  • Is Comet Dash free to play?

Yes. It runs free in your browser with no download or signup.

  • How do I play Comet Dash on my phone?

Open it in your phone browser and play in portrait. One thumb covers the whole campaign.

  • How hard does Comet Dash get?

The campaign runs one hundred stages and the late ones expect several attempts. The retry budget grows as the stages climb.

  • What is Free Flight mode?

An endless spaceship game with full steering. The ship follows your pointer or finger instead of climbing and diving on one button.
